Camping & RV Information: On-Site

All RV and camping units must register at the AAA headquarters office and then proceed to the appropriate areas. No camping units will be allowed access prior to registration and security will turn back such vehicles without proper passes.

Caution: Campers are urged to check trees in campsites for dead limbs prior to setting up campsites.

Tent camping under the wing of your aircraft is permissible, but please note, it must not overlap with another aircraft’s parking area, or extend into the taxiway. No vehicle parking is allowed in any aircraft parking areas or taxiways.

All travel trailers, 5th wheel trailers, toy haulers, and Class A, B & C type RV’s over 22’ will be required to use the RV area on the south end of the airport.

The RV area is located on the south end of the airport adjacent to the south campground with RV access and even terrain for easy parking. Access is via the driveway on the east side of the runway behind the APM and Flymarket. This area is close to the south shower house.

While no electrical hookups are available, it is acceptable to operate a generator in this area. Please make certain your generator is properly muffled and runs quietly. Generators must be shut down after 10:30 p.m.

Due to a proliferation of various types of motorized vehicles and underage drivers on and about the flight line and buildings, the use of golf carts, ATVs, scooters, jeeps, or similar on the Antique Airfield grounds will be strictly limited to Fly-in officials and those who show a need (handicap sticker, license or similar). Those who qualify must bring their own vehicle and provide proof of insurance for the vehicle. No exceptions.

Members who are bringing golf carts need to provide the AAA with a certificate of insurance, with at least $1,000,000 in liability coverage for bodily injury and property damage. The certificate also needs to name the Antique Airplane Association & Air Power Museum Inc., 22001 Bluegrass Road, Ottumwa, IA 52501 as an additional insured.

Security, storage, and safe operation of golf carts, etc., will be the owner/operator’s responsibility while on the grounds of Antique Airfield.

Remember to stop and give a ride to those in need!

Camping with electrical hookups, shower house, dump station, etc. is available in nearby Ottumwa at the Ottumwa Park Campgrounds. Call 641-682-1307 for more information.

Pets

We’re dog lovers here at Antique Airfield, however, due to safety issues and liability concerns that allowing dogs on the flight line and in the campgrounds raises, pets will not be allowed at IA27 during the Fly-in!

If you are planning on flying into Antique Airfield and are not used to operating in and out of a 2350 ft grass runway, we encourage you to find an appropriate airport in your area on which to gain currency and proficiency in short-field operations before arriving at Antique Airfield.
