Ken Kinsler sent us an update on his Culver V project, which he previously updated us on from 2010.
Fuselage was painted with 3 cross coats of silver and finished with 3 cross coats of Sun Valley Ivory and forest green. Wings and control surfaces were finished per the poly fiber process using glider cloth on all plywood surfaces. Finish coats of Sun Valley Ivory. New Plexiglas installed in canopy. Instrument panel cleaned up and painted. Aircraft was assembled controls rigged and gear retraction test preformed.
The C85 engine was disassembled due to a prop strike and all steel parts magnafluxed. While he engine was disassembled an O-200 crank, rods and pistons were installed. Engine and two-speed Skyblade propeller installed in airframe and the Excello fuel injection adjusted.
The airplane was test flown by Ben Pendergrass on 4/24/2012, first flight in nearly 35 years.
