Jon Nace sent the background story and historical photos of his new Waco UIC project.

I'm sending these pics. of UIC N13567 which I purchased in Fla. last February. They were obtained from the Sanford Historical Society with the help of its president, Mr. Harland Eastman.

The craft was sold by Waco to Sanford Airways in 1934 after one Howard Ailor used it as a demo along the eastern seaboard. Sanford Airways used the aircraft approximately one year before selling it to Queen City Flying Service in Cincinnati. From there, it had several owners from Lexington, KY to Lafayette, IN. Notable signatures in the original logs include Joseph C. Hogan in Dayton, 1941. In 1952, Hubert McQueen bought the Waco with a total of 927 Hrs. TT. There is no mention in the logs of ever being recovered, re-engined or better yet, wrecked!

I talked to Hubert a year or two ago about his plans for the Waco. He wasn’t ready to sell at that time. His broker called me in February. I knew this was the one I'd been waiting for and wasted no time retrieving it with my good buddy Norm Poklar. Norm is still ribbing me about what Im going to do with that pile of parts. I do have my work cut out for me.

I also have a considerable inventory for my NC 13424 UIC project. Many of these parts are in excess of my needs and will be sold. Email me for info.
